Oahu Hawaii

Hawaii is a tropical haven visited by tourists from the United States as well as other parts of the world. It is the only group of islands included in the fifty-two states of the US, which is not part of the mainland. "Aloha" is a popular Hawaiian greeting, which signifies the warmth of the people as well as the beauty of the islands. This tropical paradise has eight main islands and Oahu, the third largest island in the archipelago, is known as the 'Gathering Place' or the 'Gathering Isle'.

A Diverse Island Paradise

Oahu is where most of the local and foreign tourists come to indulge in a wide array of fun water and group activities. Aside from being the third largest island in Hawaii, it also has the largest population of almost 875,000 people. Because of its superb scenery it has become an ideal location for movies and television shows, as well as a world famous vacation spot. Following is a list of the island's busiest centers.

Honolulu
This is Hawaii's capital where you will get to experience the 'city' side of this tropical paradise. The name of the place literally means sheltered bay. Honolulu is teeming with a variation of establishments like the state's main airport, commercial and business buildings, and a mini-Chinatown. It is also an artist's hub where you can find the Bishop Museum.

Waikiki
Oahu is also an ideal family getaway. The world-class Waikiki beach is like cherry on top of the ice cream with it gorgeous water and pristine sand.

North Shore
If you want to challenge nature, visit the North Shore in winter and ride a 25- foot wave. Aside from being a surfer's retreat, you can also find a variation of art galleries and crafts shops, and mouth-watering food from the local restaurants here.

Other well-known spots in Oahu, which attract tourists, are the East Shore, the West Shore and the Windward Coast. With hundreds of fun activities to enjoy and lots of places to go, there is no better place to spend your time in than in Hawaii''s most happening place: the island of Oahu.
